Health Insurance FAQs

Common questions about health cover in the UAE.

In Dubai, all employers must provide health insurance for employees and domestic workers under the DHA mandate. In Abu Dhabi, the mandate extends to all residents including dependants. Other emirates are progressively implementing similar requirements. Gulf Oasis ensures your cover meets all applicable regulatory requirements.

Yes. Most individual and family plans allow you to add a spouse, children and eligible dependants. There may be age limits for children (typically up to age 18, or 25 if in full-time education). Some insurers require dependants to be added within 30 days of a qualifying life event such as marriage or childbirth. Our team manages all additions and amendments.

Under UAE regulations, certain pre-existing conditions must be covered — particularly for basic mandatory health insurance plans in Dubai. For enhanced and premium plans, pre-existing condition coverage varies by insurer and may be subject to waiting periods or exclusions. We identify the best available options for your specific health situation.

Most UAE health plans operate on a cashless Direct Billing basis at network hospitals and clinics — you present your health insurance card and the insurer settles directly with the provider. For out-of-network consultations or in emergencies, you pay first and claim reimbursement later. Our team assists with both processes.
