The UAE Golden Visa provides a ten-year renewable residence permit to qualifying investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals. For business owners, it offers the security of long-term UAE residency independent of any single employment or business relationship — and significantly simplifies dependent visa management. This guide explains the eligibility criteria for business owners and entrepreneurs, the application process, and the practical benefits.

Golden Visa Eligibility for Business Owners

Business owners can qualify for the UAE Golden Visa through several routes: establishing or investing in a UAE company with a minimum paid-up share capital of AED 2 million, investing AED 2 million or more in UAE property, investing AED 2 million or more in a UAE-licensed investment fund, or qualifying as a startup founder through AREA 2071 or other approved innovation incubators. Existing business owners with UAE companies can restructure their capital to meet the AED 2 million threshold if their business is at that scale.

Entrepreneur Golden Visa

A separate Entrepreneur Golden Visa category exists for founders of innovative startups. To qualify, the entrepreneur must own a startup project in the UAE that is classified as innovative in a defined sector (technology, science, health, education, or other priority sectors), have a previous startup valued at AED 500,000 or more, or receive endorsement from an accredited business incubator. This route is accessible for earlier-stage founders who do not yet meet the AED 2 million capital threshold.

Benefits of the Golden Visa for Business Owners

The Golden Visa provides a ten-year residence visa that is not tied to any employment relationship or trade licence status. Golden Visa holders can remain outside the UAE for more than six months without their visa being cancelled (a key advantage over standard residence visas). They can sponsor unlimited dependents including spouse, children of all ages, and parents. The Golden Visa simplifies bank account maintenance as it provides proof of long-term UAE residency status.

Application Process

The Golden Visa application is submitted through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai or the Departments of Naturalisation and Residency in other emirates, or through the ICP for federal applications. Required documentation includes evidence of the qualifying investment, trade licence and company documents, Emirates ID, and passport. The MOHRE or relevant authority confirms the investment qualification. Processing takes approximately four to eight weeks. Gulf Oasis Business Management manages the Golden Visa application process end-to-end.
